Delivery
All our prices include UK postage
All prices on this website include postage and packing within the UK. Orders are generally despatched every Thursday to minimise travel to a post office, though if demand is high mailing will be more frequent. If staff are on expedition (it is the nature of our niche sport!), delivery may take longer: please allow up to thirty days. If delivery timing is critical, contact us before placing your order.
All items are priced inclusive of second-class mail.
Please note that second-class mail does not provide any tracking. For all items posted we obtain a certificate of posting to show despatch, but we cannot offer any other information about timing of deliveries as this is out of our control once despatched. If you require faster delivery, or you wish to have an insured post or special timed delivery, please contact us before placing an order so that we can quote the additional cost involved.
Large orders may require a courier service (which may require a signature on delivery). If you are unsure whether this applies to your order, please contact us to enquire. You may wish to have a large order sent to a work or other address where someone is available to sign for the delivery.
If your order is to a non-UK address and is subject to import duties or taxes, these must be borne by you. If you require insured postage, please enquire about the additional cost this will entail. We reserve the right to charge for redelivery of goods that are returned to us as undeliverable using the address or other information supplied by you, or are not collected from the post office (or other carrier) by the customer (in such instances we are charged for the new attempt at delivery and we must pass this on). Please note that we are no longer able to deliver to the EU or USA.
This website requires that you select where your order will be posted to, so that the correct price is displayed. By default this is the UK, as it is the only country we now post to without prior arrangements. Note that we no longer deliver to the EU or USA (but see the notes below).
If you order any item for delivery to a non-UK address (and therefore have underpaid), please note that we will have to reject your order and, under our terms and conditions, we will deduct the charges made by the card company for taking the payment and again refunding the order.
Sending any order to Wild Places Publishing by post or online indicates your acceptance of our terms and conditions (of which these notes form part). If you still have questions, please check our FAQs for Deliveries and feel free to contact us.
Notes follow concerning deliveries to the EU and USA, which we no longer despatch to (and currently, without contacting us first, we have prevented registration for the relevant countries). Ho0wever, see the additional note at the end.
EU customers please note that since July 2021, VAT and (potentially) a handling charge determined by your country would apply to any order, and in 2026 the previous exemption from paying customs duty on small orders was discontinued. Though in agreed circumstances we may still despatch to the EU (in which case the following notes apply), in principle we no longer despatch to any EU address and it is no longer possible without advance arrangements for EU customers to register on our site. If arrangements are made, the following notes apply. You must accept that tax may apply on delivery: a refusal to pay will not be accepted as a reason for returning an item or claiming a full refund. All items are despatched DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid). Any applicable charges will be made by the carrier in your country.
In May 2025 President Trump cancelled tariff exemptions for small parcels entering the USA, meaning that an additional tax became required. This, and the uncertainty of additional charges and customs paperwork involved, means that Wild Places has been left with no option other than ceasing to post goods to the USA. Henceforth, without prior arrangement, US customers are therefore no longer able to register on our site. Currently, we are not accepting any arrangement to do so on an individual basis, following extreme difficulties encountered with attempted deliveries, even with taxes prepaid. If this changes in the future, the following notes will apply again. If you wish to make a purchase and accept any charge upon delivery (or to have a quote for prepaid taxes on despatch, likely to be at minimum £20 to cover the additional paperwork charges that the courier makes, without taking into account the additional carriage charges), please contact us. Do NOT simply place an order with UK delivery included if your delivery address is not in the UK. In all instances, contact us first.
Additional note
Although we no longer despatch to the EU or USA, for the reasons given above, for any items that are really desirable within these regions, we can suggest an alternative.
A number of companies in the UK (and overseas) have made arrangements to ship goods and take care of the paperwork and taxes on behalf of individuals. While being clear that Wild Places has no association with any such company, an example is Forward2me:
https://www.forward2me.com
Creating an account is free, after which you can specify the destination country. In principle, you purchase your books and we despatch these to a UK address (forward2me or any other) and they ship this onwards, using your account, your payment and your supplied details. All such arrangements are under your control and you simply use their address with your account details for our delivery information. It is an option to consider, alongside the possible postage to someone you already know in the UK who will post items on for you.
